Honesty was not what was missing.

Look closer.

We say we want the change to be real. Then we only trust it while we can still feel it. That is not a small mix-up. It means we were tracking the signal, not the change.

Honesty was not what was missing. When the glow went quiet and someone told you that you had not gone deep enough with yourself, that sentence got there first. Nobody looked at where you were standing.

You needed to feel it in order to believe it. While the body was still reporting, it counted as true. When the reporting stopped, you read the silence as the end. It did not end. The report did. Those are not the same event, and almost no one holds them apart.

If someone close to you is waiting for the old version of you to walk back in, that is the line to give them. What is still missing is not more honesty. It is knowing where this landed.
